Spencery Fry gets it. I think it’s all too easy for us [techies] to forget what this is all about. Too soon are we to adopt the latest and craziest Thing just to have it fall flat on our face when we present it to the client. I know not many people do, but my company still faces problems with clients understanding a lightbox. I’m not sure if we’re stuck in a rut of excessive Normals, but I know for a fact my mom wouldn’t immediately understand what was happening if a lightbox popped up in front of her face.
It’s often said that true achievements pass the test of time. I think that can be directly applied to Web design, and attributes to the fact that it’s something terribly difficult to master.
