Book Review: Internet Marketing with WordPress

I’ve just finished reading Internet Marketing with WordPress by David Mercer. The book, like a number of Packt books I’ve read lately, takes a more abstract approach to its title. The majority of the information is useful aside from the niche (in this case, WordPress) and only becomes restricted to it periodically.

Stop whining and start hiring remote workers

Stop whining and start hiring remote workers – (37signals). I don’t often link to 37signals svn posts. It’s not because I don’t agree with them, it’s because they take off like wildfire. This one is no exception, but the take home message is short and sweet. The world is smaller than it’s ever been, even [...]

The Dangerous Effects of Reading

The Dangerous Effects of Reading | Certain Extent. I love this article. It puts into words thoughts and opinions I’ve been trying to wrap my head around for some time. The Internet is designed to help us judge more efficiently. Whether it be “Likes”, “Plusses”, “Followers”, “Stamps”, “Visits”, or any other metric we come up [...]

Facebook No Longer Supports IE7

Facebook No Longer Supports IE7. Although the article focuses on what actually happens, how to check it out on your own, and how to get around it if for some reason you’re determined to stick with it, I’m most excited that a site the size of Facebook appears to have dropped IE7. It’s an effective [...]

javascript – Can you explain why ++[[]][+[]]+[+[]] = 10

javascript – Can you explain why ++[[]][+[]]+[+[]] = 10 – Stack Overflow. Not only is the original post itself interesting, but the fact that someone took the time to so delicately (and thoroughly) explain an answer is what really got me. I’m not usually one to put too much emphasis on or value in 100% [...]

How the Postname Permalinks in WordPress 3.3 Work

How the Postname Permalinks in WordPress 3.3 Work ยป Otto on WordPress. One of the crowd favorite features brought in WordPress 3.3 was the ability to further customize your permalink structure to use only the postname as the slug. Prior to 3.3 this was extremely costly and didn’t scale very well, especially once your page [...]

Response JS: mobile-first progressive enhancement in HTML5.

Response JS: mobile-first progressive enhancement in HTML5.. This is a very interesting project. Responsive design will continue to be a steady topic of conversation in 2012 and tools like this help propel us to talking about it applicably. Without going into too much detail about responsive design itself, I’d like to point out what Response [...]

Year in Review: Highlights from 2011

As 2011 comes to an end, I took some time to reflect on how Monday By Noon fit into the year. I’ve known it all year long, but I’m disappointed in how I’ve treated Monday By Noon in 2011 and I hope to get on track in 2012. I plan to reinforce the publishing schedule and also increase the posting frequency for Asides. What else would you like to see?

The HipHop Virtual Machine | Facebook

The HipHop Virtual Machine | Facebook. Many of you know that I haven’t had a Facebook account since it was limited to a college email address, but I can’t help to be intrigued on what they’re doing under the hood. Some time ago, Facebook made waves with what they were doing with PHP, and they [...]
