CSS3 for Web Designers is the latest publication from A Book Apart. Written by Dan Cederholm, I’m extensively impressed with this book, and I think it’s a terrific introduction and overview to all (for today’s intents and purposes) that is CSS3.

I’ve got a specific stance on CSS3. While the geek in me wants to use it whenever and wherever possible, there are some drawbacks when it comes to consistency. There are cases, though, where I feel it really appropriate to go ahead and take advantage of what CSS3 has to offer. Thumbnail galleries, for instance, provide a nice platform to begin working with nth-child().

We’re all smitten with CSS3. It’s reinvigorated that sense of newness that CSS and Web Standards brought our way just a few years ago. We’re able to more easily replicate the set of design standards that has become nearly universal much faster than before with just a few CSS declarations. There are a number of CSS3 rules I’d be writing for each and every project, but I’m just not sure it’s as ready for prime time as many designers are making it out to be.
