Acknowledgement of Internet Explorer Support
This document aims to explain the extent to which COMPANY will support this contracted project in Internet Explorer.
Background on Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer is a Web browser developed by Microsoft for Windows operating systems. It is the most widely used Web browser due to it being the default installed on all Microsoft Windows powered computers.
Shortcomings of Internet Explorer
There has been extensive innovation on the Web in recent years, enabling a very rich user experience through the use of Standards-based browsers. Unfortunately, Internet Explorer has a history of ignoring accepted Web Standards, instead focusing on proprietary functionality implemented for the advancement of both Internet Explorer as well as the Windows platform.
Web Standards have proven to be the most successful way of building websites, and Microsoft has recognized the movement in recent versions of Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, older versions of Internet Explorer still remain in heavy use due to restrictions put in place either by corporate environment standards or software requirements. These outdated versions of Internet Explorer do a great disservice to a user by limiting its ability to properly render a Web page and failing to provide a rich level of interaction due to improper support of certain accepted standards commonly found on the modern Web.
What to expect
COMPANY takes a specific stance regarding Internet Explorer due to these shortcomings. In order to remain both cost effective and accessible to your visitors, COMPANY will implement a series of adjustments targeted specifically toward outdated versions of Internet Explorer. This set of fixes may alter both the approved design as well as approved document behavior to a certain degree in order to accommodate the shortcomings of Internet Explorer.
COMPANY reserves the right to include passive notification to website visitors using outdated versions of Internet Explorer, providing notice of both outdated software use as well as degraded viewing experience, also including a link to upgrade his browser.
